I'm really trying to get this stuff sold, and I've been trying since March, so most everything is being pretty drastically reduced. Please click the links for photos. Crossed out items have already been sold. If there's no link, then I don't have a current photo - however, I can take photos on request.
If you're concerned about feedback, you can check me out on ebay (as alaskatillie) or on PullipStyle's forum (as caseyknits).
Shipping will be $2 in the US and Canada, and $3 for international. Thanks so much!

Possibilities

confused

current mood: confused

Wow. Long time no post. But I need some feedback, if you can offer it to me.

I'm currently a stay-at-home mom (my kids are 21 months and four and a half). I watch a neighbor kid a couple days a week for a little extra cash. Money is very tight, and my husband has been looking for a new job, but it's hard to look for a job with his full time job, and his responsibilities in our church. My brother has been keeping an eye out for a tech-support job at the company he works for, possibly for my husband, but mentioned to my mom today that he thought it might be a better job for me, because I'm more technology inclined. He doesn't know for sure, but is going to find out fairly soon if this position is opening.

My husband and I believe that mothers belong in the home to nurture and rear their families, and that fathers should be the providers (yes, I know this is extremely old fashioned, but it's still what we believe). However, it's a substantial amount of money. It could potentially double our income. I would have to pay out about half my check to day care, but still. It also offers benefits, which we don't currently have (my husband's boss is soooooo cheap), plus the help desk job trains you for Technician I, which in turn trains for Technician II.

So I guess my question is, what would you do in my position? Getting this job, even just for six months or so, would help us pay off almost all our outstanding debt (student loans excluded). I love my kids, and I love being home with them, and firmly believe I should be home with them, but this job sounds so great for me. My dad and two of my brothers are network specialists, and though I don't know as much as them, I want to learn, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

Selling a few things...

March 1st, 2006 (03:53 pm)

I apologize for the fuzzy pics. I know they're also so huge that they'll eat you alive, but I don't know how to resize pics on photobucket or LJ. I also don't have the time to bother with it right now.

Shipping is $1.50 for US and Canada, $2.50 for international, except as marked. I accept PayPal, USD please. I combine shipping. Email me for a total price at the following address:

caseyknits (at) gmail (dot) com.

UPDATE 12 MAY 06: I'm trying to raise money for Craziia and Timulus (OMG soooo HOTT), among other things, so I'd really like to sell this stuff as quickly as possible. I'm thinking of buying a Sacralita from eBay, but I only want her stock clothing and card. IF (and this depends entirely on whether I get a buyer for the nude body) I get her, I would like to sell her nude for $70 plus $12 shipping.

I'm also selling Serpent's complete stock outfit (brand new, never played with, includes bouquet), and Withered's scalp and type 1 body (I took her out of the box and dismantled her for a custom - the body is tight, and has minimal staining on the right hand from her black shirt), and an Obitsu slim male body in white (removed from package, but not used yet). Pics available on request for these items. I'm asking $55 for Serpent's clothes, $$15 for the Obitsu, and taking offers on Withered's scalp and body.

Yay! New dollies!

current mood: cheerful

This week I got new dollies in the mail! I got six new Little Pullips: Fanatica, Dido, Berry, Panda, and Fantastic Alice in both pink and blue. This puts my Little Pullip collection at seven, which means I have eleven to go, including the most recently announced. I also need to pre-order stands for all the dolls that were released before they started including stands with the dolls. I don't remember how many that is right now. It's late...

I need more dollies. I told Jay, and he just said, "I know." Then he said I could get a new dollie when our tax money comes in! Maybe even two, depending on the price! Hooray! I e-filed yesterday, so that means I get new dollies very soon! (Apologies for all the exclamations. I'm very, very excited.) I can't decide if I want Fai and China China, or if I want to get Raphia, or a Lan Ai...there are so many dollies that I want. It's going to be really hard to choose. But next time I get money for babysitting, holy-crap-it's-going-right-to-dollies.... <3<3<3<3<3 What a sweet husband I have, to just say, "I know" and say I can buy more soon. :)

I was visiting a friend of mine today, and I was talking about how I love my husband, and what a great relationship we have. He is so perfect for me. We have a lot of interests in common, but we still respect the interests that we don't share. Jay loves guns, and while I like to shoot a few rounds at the range when I get the chance, I'm not interested in calibers and how much gunpowder goes into what rounds, etc the way he is. And while he thinks my Pullips are cute, he doesn't get all excited about them the way I do. But we trust and respect each other. And we talk all the time. And we say "I love you" about a hojillion times a day. And I told my friend how I never would have dated my husband, or even thought twice about him if I had just met him on the street, but because we met online, and courted through e-mail and phone calls, we really got to know each other, and looks didn't matter that much. (My husband is not ugly or anything, just not the kind of guy I normally went for.) And I love him soooooo much. :)

We went to see Narnia tonight (finally). It rocked so much. Mr Tumnus' house was exactly how I imagined it when I read the books. And I loved Lucy. The movie was so spectacularly fabulous. I told Jay that if I had seen it on opening weekend, I would have gone every weekend until it was out of the theater. It was a very, very good adaptation, better than the Harry Potter movies (MUCH better than HP3 and 4), and better than The Two Towers and Return of the King. It ranked right up there with Fellowship of the Ring. Excellent make-up and costumes, stunning cinematography, great casting. Loved it the whole time. Even though we came in when Lucy was making her way through the snowy branches the first time. We missed the arrival and lead up. However, as I told Jay when the movie was over, I MUST have the DVD (special edition, if they release one).

But it's late and late, so I have to go!

I've been working a little on the Pullip sweaters I'm making for sale. I know I want to get a pattern made, and it's mostly written up, I'm just so lazy about refining it and getting it up for use. Then I have a commission for a Namu button-front shirt, which would take me hardly any time at all, if I'd just clear off my table to do it.

I'm also procrastinating cleaning my house. It's a total disaster, but I just look at it and keep thinking, ugh. I just don't want to clean it. I really need to get on it, though. My mom called me today, and she said she's really disappointed with the state of my housecleaning. I know, I know, because she always is. She's very tidy, and I have a very organized mess. Well, not truly organized - it looks like a hell-hole, but I know where to find things, so it's not a big deal to me. But I know I need to get it clean. Then I can feel justified in sitting around making tiny doll clothes or surfing the web.

I'm drooling over Pullips so much right now. I currently have Paja and Little Paja, and just ordered Little Alice in both Blue and Pink, Little Dido, Little Berry, Little Fanatica, and Little Panda. My goal is to own all the Little Pullips (there are currently 17, so I have 10 to go). Here's my regular Pullip wishlist:

<3
Carol
Withered (I love her weener dog)

<3<3
Afternoon (what a classy, retro outfit!)
Mercu
Jupi
Latte
Holly

<3<3<3
Anne Shirley
Little Red Riding Hood
Panda
Fanatica
Chicca
China China
Lan Ake (blue hair)
Rovam (pirate - need we say more?)
Rida

<3<3<3<3
Nero (one day, my hair will be white like that - naturally, and sooner than expected)
Oren
Sacralita (okay, I'm not Catholic, but I love this doll)
Lan Ai (red hair - I will have her yet!)
Greggia (she knits!)
Raphia
Cornice

Namu/Taeyang
Trunk
Fai
Mr Wolf
Vispo
MJ

If you're a doll nerd, like me, and you haven't seen the Sweetles' dollhouse, you must check it out here. I'm so inspired. But also saddened, because I'm broke, and have no idea where she got all her beautiful miniatures.

My brother came back from Japan yesterday, and with him came the most delicious of all baked goods. I can't remember their name in Japanese, but it translates roughly to Eggs from the Moon. They are lovely little spongy cakes with custard cream and crushed chestnuts inside, and they are fabulous. It's a shame you can only get them in the town where his in-laws live, because I love them so much.

More later, because I have to clean. Ugh.

Real quick update before I head out the door for my niece's birthday party:

My skinny pants have been sagging on me for a few weeks now, so I went to get a new pair yesterday at Old Navy and discovered, much to my pleasant surprise, that I had dropped not one, but TWO pants sizes! Oh happy, happy, joy, joy! I now wear a size 12, which I have not been able to squeeze myself into since I was 16! Granted, that's only about 6 years ago, but still--! Size 12! Woo!

I also got some postal love! My SP sent me a sheep needle/swatch gauge, which is very awesome, and now I have two! One for each knitting bag. :) And I can get rid of my crappy plastic one. Hooray! I also got a RAOK from the UK, from someone who didn't clearly identify themselves, but it looks like she took a page from every single Sanrio/Hello Kitty notepad she owned (which looks to be a considerable sum) and sent them to me. Which absolutely rocks. I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should actually use them! But I know me, and I probably will use them. :)

Out the door now for Miyu's party. More later, hopefully with pics. :D

Shipping woes

March 18th, 2005 (12:58 pm)

Today I went looking for Blue Sky Alpacas' Baby Bobbi Bear pattern, because I'm not especially fond of the shop here that sells BSA stuff - I'd rather order online. So I found the pattern at Jimmy Beans Wool. I love that site. But I can't justify spending as much for shipping as I do for the pattern, especially when I know that the pattern is a single sheet of paper. So I guess Baby Bobbi will have to wait till I can spend a little more money at Jimmy Beans.

I also get a little grumpy at places that charge the earth for shipping to Alaska. It's not really that much more. I ordered a replica of Hermione's wand from the Noble collection, and they charged me $15.95 for shipping, half as much as I paid for the wand itself, and then when I got the box, the postage was $3.85. I was so mad, but what can you do about it at that point?

Liberated Woman!

Look out world! I'm wireless!

Here's the backstory: )

In knitting news, I got some new Koigu PPPM in P11 for some socks, LOTS of Wool of the Andes Natural and Color Your Own merino from Knit Picks, as well as some Merino Style in Storm for the Turtleneck Shrug from Scarf Style. And some Koigu Kersti in K2130 for the mitten tops of the Sacred and Profane Convertibles from Knit Wit. The K136 for the wristwarmers is still on its way. Ooooh! I also got some Peruvian Baby Cashmere from Elann to make baby booties for all the ladies who are having babies at church. It's sooooo soft! And I got some Peruvian Baby Silk to make a teddy bear for PatsyPea. (Both the cashmere booties and the teddy bear patterns are from Simple Knits for Cherished Babies.) So I'm reeeeeeeeeeeaaally excited to get knitting on all this new yarn. It's all so yummy!

I've got plans for all the new yarn, but I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the yummy Noro my SP sent me. I have about a ball and a half of Debbie Bliss Aran Tweed in Fuchsia that goes really well with the Noro, and I think they knit to similar gauge, but that's still 150 grams and a little bit, so I'm not really sure what it's destined for just yet.

I also got ROAK'd! Some lovely ladies from the Knittyboard sent me some lovely things. I got some Hello Kitty stuff from two different people (whose names escape me and the moment, many apologies to you lovely ladies), and yesterday I got a puzzlegram with sheep on it! Thanks, Elizabeth! And I'll get pics up as soon as I get one of the puzzlegram and get them up on my photobucket account. :D

Mmmmmmmmmm......Maybe I'll take some pics of the new yarn, too. :)

SP strikes again, and other postal stuff...

February 28th, 2005 (04:01 pm)

Since the last time I posted (a long time ago, I know - and one of my resolutions was to keep up on this - doing bad so far), I have received another package from my secret pal! And I've gotten some other things in the mail.

Stuff received, no picture yet:
-Sweater blockers from Fiber Fantasy
-Dale Baby Nr. 106
-KnitKard set
-Row counter bracelet
-Circular row counters (LOVE these)
-Ball winder
-Elegant knitter gauge from Goose Pond

I also went to my LYS and bought 8 skeins of Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky in Turkish Olive (color M-41) to make a sweater, and 5 balls of Rowan 4-ply Cotton, four in a lovely periwinkle blue (shade 136) and one in white to make the Baby's First Tattoo sweater from Stitch 'n Bitch Nation. I also acquired a very nice swift for only $49! (You're all probably wondering whether I won the lottery or something, but I didn't - our tax refund came in.)

Cut for pics - warning, image-heavy )
